Searching
Hi All,
We have a fairly large Full Text search catalog on our exchange 2007 server. All of our clients are using Outlook 2007 in cache mode so the catalog is not providing much benefit. So we are considering disabling full text search againest our storage Groups.
What I'm trying to find is a document that outlines if EmailExtender does rely on the Exchange Search function at any stage? I suspect when using the plug in in Olk2k7 to search for emails not yet shortcutted it will use the native outlook search and just trawll the local ost. Is this correct?
Any help would be fantastic?

Hi,
It is my understanding that EmailXtender only uses the EmailXtender Full Text Index for searching.
The following is found in the EX Search Guide on page 2-9:
"EmailXtender automatically scans all messages received by the EmailXtender Message Center and creates a full-text index. When a search query is
received, it then compares the search criteria to the existing index and finds the location of each message that matches the given criteria."
