Sourceone Search off EmailXtender folder

Hi

Just deploying SourceOne to replace EmailXtender at some stage.

At the moment, I just have a mapped folder at the Organization level pointing to our EmailXtender archives

For permissions I gave the primary service account "Administrators" and for Domain Users "My Files"

The primary service account can search and access everything: good

When a domain user performs a Search, he cannot find anything.

If I change the permissions from "My Files" to "Owner", users can find items, but not only their own!

I have tried to change "Domain Users" to a Distribution list and even to a single user, but it is still the same.

What I am missing? In Emailxtender users can only search from their own messages. Not sure why it does not work a similar way in SourceOne when reading the EmailXtender mapped folder.

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

Please engage EMC SourceOne Support. If users are running searches against “Sender or recipient” fields in SourceOne Web Search (SourceOne 6.6 HF1), there was a flaw in the SQL statement running behind the scenes. It is fixed in the upcoming release but for now support should be able to help you by getting you a fix that can be used.

Even though users can see other emails in the search results but they still cannot open them because they are not the owners of the messages.

Thanks,

Rajan

Thanks Rajan

This is not exactly my issue. I just click on "Find" with no criteria.

If the EmailXtender mapped folder is set with 'My Files" permissions, nothing is displayed and if set with "Owner" it display also lot of messages that do not belong to the user and the messages can be read

Thank you both.

OK, I will contact Support as Rajan mentionned.

When I use "Owner", messages are from anyone and the user is not included at all in the email neither in person nor in CC or in a DL

Owner is the correct permission

My Files is not a permission for Email Management

Do the email that are not the user included the user in the CC or are sent to a group that the user is a member of?

Hi Vincent,

To understand how OWNER and MY FILES permission sets work, I would encourage you to go through  SourceOne 6.6. Administration Guide, Configuring Mapped Folders section. This section has few tables (starting table 4 onwards) that will explain you the differences.

Now coming to the second part of the issue where users run searching as "My Items" searches but in the search results they can find that there are emails in the search results that do not belong to them. This is for what I suggested speaking to support especially if you are running SourceOne 6.6.Hf1 release.

Also make sure users are not granted "Read All" permissions because that would mean users with such permissions can search and read anyones emails.

Thanks,

Rajan
