cd drive error message: D:\ incorrect function
Hello, and thanks for your time. Ive been trying to copy some files to cd, with no success, the above error message shows when I attempt to copy. I have used device manager to uninstall/reinstall the device, I have updated drivers. I have tried to right click the drive, and "enable recording from this device" but that tab is not present. Im on a Dell laptop, inspiron 1300, the drive is a Phillips sdvd8820. Any help would be appreciated,Techdunce :)
using xp pro sp2.

Hello Skybird, and thanks for the reply. Ive tried that fix after I posted, with no luck, and have googled til my fingers are numb, there doesnt seem to be anything that fixes this (so far):smileysad:, but if you or anyone else has any other ideas, Im happy to try em. Just to recap,I cant drag n drop a file to the cd icon, nor can I right click on file and "send to" cd drive, or copy in any other way without getting the "incorrect function" error message. I dont have any malware( have double checked) and when I right click cd drive in "explorer" or "my computer" there are only 3 tabs, general, autoplay, hardware, there is no "recording" tab, and the registry tweak does not remedy this. Any other ideas appreciated,Techdunce :)
