D & E drives not in My Computer
Have a Dim 4600 Pentium 4 w/ 768 MB of RAM. Until recently, had no problems running Rosetta Stone software. Now when I put in cd, it cycles for a few seconds, then nothing. Tried to run setup and keep getting "put cd in" when the cd is in the drive. The E drive did not appear in My Computer. After reading of similar problems on this forum, tried some things and now my D drive is also gone. Help!!

Look in the Device Manager .........
Start | Control Panel | System in classic view | Hardware tab | Device Manager
Click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives. Right-click the drive and select Properties.
Is there an Error Code (number) present?

There are no message errors. The only device is HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR81628.

missing in the Device Manager? In the Device Manager,
right-click the drive that is there and select Uninstall.
Restart the system and see if anything returns to My Computer.

Now the D drive shows in My Computer. But checking its status, it shows 100% usage w/ no free space. Don't see how this is possible. Still no E drive.

I assume that only one of the drives is showing in the
Device Manager?
Power off and open your system. Redo the connections
at the back of both drives. Follow the flat-ribbon
cable to the motherboard and redo that connection also.
Restart the System and see if both drives reappear.
