HDD Installation problem

Question

Hi, installing new HDD intended for installation of W7 64 bit and dual boot with Vista X86. The new drive is an Intel X25-M G2 160 GB SATA SSD. My current system is: XPS 720 with NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI SPP / SLI MCP, Q6600, 4 GB DDR2 800MHz.. Current HDDs with Vista are 2x320GB NVIDIA SATA set up as Raid 0. On the motherboard the Raid disks are attached to SATA 0 and 1 and my DVD players to SATA 2 & 3. Attached the new drive to SATA 4, went into BIOS and activated this disk (set to ON). Booted and went into Disk Mangement where I was asked if I wanted to install the disk as Master Boot Record or GPT, chose MBR. In disk Management the disk now report itself as Disk 0. My Raid disks with C:; and D: report themselves as Disk 1. In Device Manager, the new disk reports itself as Intel SS DSA2M160G2GC SCSI Disk Drive. Wonder why it says SCSI, but says it works properly. Also reports itself properly in BIOS. I now expected to be able to assign a drive letter and format but these options are not available when I right click on the drive in Disk Management. Why? Have I done something wrong? Any advice on what to try? Thanks for any assistance, I really need to get this working.

Hi, MrUser: You installed the MBR on the new drive, so obviously, that's going to be disk 0.
