Hotfix needed for external disk that does not support cache commands
I have added an external disk to my system (Lacie 80GB 7200rpm Design by F. A. Porsche External USB 2.0 Hard Drive).
I am running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 on a Dell PWS340.
I get lots of warnings in the Event Log (An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR3 during a paging operation. ) Event ID=51.
I was directed to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;830051
but don't know how to get the Hotfix

In your message you mention your machine as being a 'PWS340.' If that is to mean a 'Precision Work Station 340,' you should probably repost your inquiry at the appropriate Precision Work Station Forum, such as, http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=pw_harddrive . You have posted at the Dimension Hard Drive forum.
As indicated in the "RESOLUTION" section of the link you provided: "To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix." I suggest that you follow that provided link to the indicated Microsoft web site for further instructions and information, if that is indeed the specific issue you need to resolve.
Good luck,:smileyhappy:
