Region code

I just received my inspiron 1501 laptop and tride to play one of my DVD's that has worked in my other DVD players but I get a message that the DVD is from another region. Where and how do I see what region my Power DVD DX is set at and how to change. I'm aware from my reading that you only get 5 setting changes.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It is not the software that determines the Region Code.  It is in the drive itself.

Look in the Device Manager .........

Start | Control Panel | System in classic view | Hardware tab | Device Manager

Click on the (+) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives.  Right-click the drive and select Properties.
Select the DVD Region tab.  This will give you the Region Code and the capability of changing it.

Have a look at AnyDVD from http://www.slysoft.com I use that and it bypasses the region coding of DVD's, effectively making them region free as far as your playback software is concerned.
