Installation issue of the Dell SupportAssist software

Hi,

I am using my PC: Dell Inspiron 24-7459

I uninstalled Dell SupportAssist recently because somehow it stopped launching and just didn't open. So I decided to reinstall the software.

After uninstallation, I visited the official Dell website (https://www.dell.com/support/home/de-ch?app=drivers) to download the latest version of the software.

I opened the installer and it started installing:

But the problem now is that this "installation process" never ended, and it keeps telling me "We're getting things ready for you", after five minutes the program just closes and nothing was installed.

Can please someone help with this issue, I need the program to update my drivers.

Best regards,

Aayushman

My Dell SupportAssist install was similarly stuck on the "getting things ready" screen.  I was able to fix and successfully install by first uninstalling some older Dell Support apps from 2019 (when my Dell was purchased):

  1. Go to Settings / Apps / Installed Apps
  2. For each "Dell Support*" app click on "..." and select Uninstall
  3. After there are no more Dell Support* apps, rerun SupportAssistinstaller.exe to install again

Today I was experiencing the same issue, I went to remove apps and removed two apps that have same SupportAssist name but had different dates one was 2019 and I freshly installed from the website support assist again and waited a bit like 7 mins, it launched correctly. The only thing that isn’t working is Signing in with Google.  (Btw im using an Alienware laptop , Wins 11)

Same issues.  Uninstalled and reinstalled.  Update all drivers and Windows.  Upgrade .Net and JRE.

What worked for me was running the short performance test. After typing my service tag number in and running the test under diagnostics, the app was automatically installed.

@Aayushman I tried running preboot diagnostics and it did *not* install supportassist. Still have the problem.

We have thew same issues here. Multiple Dell Devices Hanging when not being used. And Dell Support Assist will not install to see what drivers/firmware Dell changed during Windows updates
If Dell could please post fixes for these issues it would be appreciated by the users and resellers alike

@Mikey94025 Mikey's trick WORKED! Thank you, my friend, you helped me out.

But it needs one more step. On my PC, after uninstalling all “Dell Support” — Software, I needed to uninstall all third-party antivirus and firewall, as it blocked the installation somehow. But after all this, the installation finally worked.

Thanks a lot to you @Mikey94025! 🤝
