Can we add a Meta to another Meta Volume?

Hi,

Can we add a Meta to another Meta volume? If yes, what's the command to add the meta to another meta?

Thanks & Regards,
Packiarajan Siva

The answer is yes and no .. :-)

You have to dissolve one of existing metavolumes and add resulting devices to other meta .. So you can't simply add an existing meta to another meta. But you can add members from a former meta to another metavolume. :D

If you are going to add members to a striped metavolume, be prepared to either backup/restore the content or use a BCV to protect your beloved data while expanding metavolume. If your meta is concatenated no probs at all.

IMHO Stefano was correct about his answer. Didn't his answer give you full satisfaction or were you expecting a 1 page answer on this ?

The answer is easy (as S mentioned): you cannot add a meta as a whole to another meta, ou must disolve the to be added meta first and then add each member to the meta you want to expand.

Rob the question is answered .. And if someone jumps in can easily find what's the right answer for this thread .. I think it's worst when there is a thread marked as answered but without marked answers... ;-)
