Cannot run symntctl umount on 64 bit windows 2003

Hello Everyone

I am trying to run symntctl umount -drive X on a Win2k3 64 bit system and receive the following error - "The application has failed to start because symapi.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem" I searched for the dll and it was found in c:\windows\system32 and c:\program files\emc\symcli\shlib. I have reinstalled it with no avail.

One interesting thing I see is that there is a c:\program files and a c:\program files (x86) on the system. In the (x86) subfolders, I see an EMC folder which contains Power Common, Power Path, and Timefinder Integration Modules - within this I see SIU then symntctl.exe within it.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

are you sure you loaded the 64bit addition ? Because mine shows up in c:\Program Files\EMC\Timefinder Integration Modules ...and under C:\Program Files x86\EMC ..i only see Power Common and PowerPath.

I think you are right. It looks like I may have Solutions Enabler 64 bit but the Integration Module as 32 bit. Do you know if 64 bit SQL is required if running the 64 bit TSIM?

I want to expand the information a little bit - We are running 32 bit SQL on 64 bit Windows (please don't ask why...). I have uninstalled the 64 bit SIU and the 32 bit TFIM, then reinstalled 32 bit SIU (it defaulted to c:\program files instead of c:\program files (x86)), so I installed 32 bit TFIM into the same directory. Now when I try to run symntctl or tsimsnap /?, it states that the functionality is not licensed. I have checked the C:\Program Files\EMC\SYMAPI\config\symapi_licenses.dat file and have confirmed that it is licensed or at least it that the license key exists in that folder....

Is there some type of licensing discrepancy between 32 and 64 bit?

i would not think so ..i have moved my symapi_licenses.dat from 32bit to 64bit os ..and everything worked ok. I just don't know about the whole thing running 32bit SIU and TFIM on 64bit box.

let's see if it works with sql now ? ;)

After installing the 32 bit SIU and TFIM AND licensing it (for some reason, on my other servers the Resourcepack license seems to cover this) it finally started working - both tsimsnap and symntctl...

Thanks for your advice and input on this!!!

Installed both 32 bit and installed into c:\program files\emc\.... When I installed the 32 bit SIU, it defaulted to this location, so I just made sure TFIM went there too. It's now working.. hopefully this is a supported configuration!

so what did you do different this time ? both SIU and TFIM were 32bit ?

If we were running 64 bit SQL, I was told it wouldn't. I have already scripted and tested the tsimsnap functionality and it worked like a charm!
