Creating new FAST_VP pool suggestions?
Hello,
We just purchased FAST_VP with 70 STEC 200GB EFDs.
68 are for data disks w/ 2 hot spares.
I would like to create a single VP Pool for use with FAST_VP out of the 68 drives.
Capacity free is (GB / MB / Cyl) 12669 / 12973176 / 13614212
Wondering if anyone could give me pointers on how many TDATs I should create and at what size to make this as efficient as possible. The rest of the pools that are going to be involved are 1TB_SATA_3R5 (3+1) and 300GB_FC_3R5 (3+1).
My thoughts are creating X amount of TDEVs @ X amount of cylinders w R5 (3+1) but I need help figuring out the value for X :)

Ok, I ended up creating 136 x 75078 Cyl R3+1 Tdevs which put 8 hypers on each disk..
I then added these to a new "EFD_POOL"
Now...time to figure out policies...
I think I answered my own question, but how does the above look to everyone?

Hi boydbria,
I am new to FAST_VP, can you help me in finding the best doc for beginners.
I do have an idea abt FAST, but no conceptual knowledge. So can u help me????

68 disks seems like a strange number. The ideal configuration is one per engine to balance the load on the DAs.
Also each disk should have the same number of TDATs.
How many engines do you have?

Two Engine Vmax. 70 EFDs total w/ 2 being used as hot spares.

what was the logic to get 70 EFD? what amount of LOAD are you planning to push to EFD pool?
