DMX FA attributes for IBM VIO Servers
We are going to deploy IBM VIO servers in our site. We are little worried about the integration of VIO servers with EMC DMX-3/4. We would like to know about the FA attributes
1. Common_Serial_Number(C)
2. SCSI_3(SC3)
3. SPC2_Protocol_Version(SPC2).
Q1. Do we need to enable these attributes at FA level or IBM host HBA wwn level.
Q2. Other than the above mentioned FA attributes, do we need to enable/disable any other attibutes.

Have you already looked at the Host Connectivity Guide for AIX and the eLab Navigator? Between the two places you should be able to find all the specific requirements for connecting your hosts. This will give you an end to end view of special settings all the way from the host/HBA through to the array/FA ports
As for your Q1, it is your choice how you would like to manage the settings on the FAs. In our environment we still hard code specific ports to specific settings to segregate host connection by port. More and more often we are hearing about implementations where the settings are done during masking (at the initiator level). This allows different host types with different settings on the same port. You have to make that choice for your environment.

Also in IBM host connectivity guide, they mentioned for general AIX machine , its recommended to enable SPC2. But there is no specific setting for VIOS.
We just wanted to know, if anyone already deployed VIO servers in their environment, are they changed any settings or not. Is it equivalent to regular AIX machine or not.

In e-lab navigator , no where they mentioned about FA/HBA attributes .
