Does EMC DMX-3 support mixed raidness?
Hi, have a quick question. Does EMC DMX-3 support mixed raidness? for example, can I have half config as RAID10 and half config as RAID5? assuming I am already in the latest enginuity level.
Thanks and looking forward to your answers.

However as you noted RAID6 is available since 5772 .. (as I said, I'm the king of confusion)

Dynamox I think you have to ask your local friendly CE or RTS to dial the box and tell you the truth

It wasn't clear to me how much "trade secrets" I can share with customers regarding this specific issue since all primuses are restricted (and customers can't access them).
You shaded a lot of light on this

DMX-3s released since around Q3-Q4 2006 have had the hardware capability to support RAID6. Due to the nature of running RAID6, specific ASICs are needed to assist the DA in all the extra calculations. Those ASICs were already existent. Early DMX-3s had 1st generation boards which do not have that capability, but 2nd generation boards, and 3rd generation boards (boards installed on DMX-4) do have the required ASICs to support RAID6. So depending on the hardware installed
Coincidentally, all DMX-4s are RAID6 capable at install because they are installed with Enginuity 5772 and have the 3rd generation DAs.

Please send me an e-mail to papp_christopher@emc.com with the SNs of your DMX-3s, and I can get that answer for you.
Typically to get that answer, we look at the Part Number on the front director board. If they end into a certain sequence, they will have the correct H/W to support RAID6.
I'm being fairly generous right now so I'll look at them for you real quick and tell you.
