Exchange 2007 on DMX-4

Has anyone recently configured Exchange 2007 on a DMX-4? I only have (32) 146gb 15k physical disks to work with. I'm planning on using lun sizes of 400 gb for my exchange databases, and a lun size of 70 gb for the logs. If u do the math: I could do (4) disk groups on the DMX containing (6) disk each Raid 1 = 408 GB (meta)and (4) disk groups containing (2) drives each Raid 1=136 GB for my exchange transaction logs, or create (1) disk group on the DMX containing (26) drives Raid 1, and (1) disk group on the DMX containing (6) drives Raid 1. The latter gives me a greater spindle count for the databases. Thanks for your input.

We have running an earlier version of Exchange on DMX 3. Because of the continous growth, for flexibility and for performance reasons we have choosen to use Veritas Volume Manager on the Exchange hosts with meta devices of 32 GB (4 * 8.4 GB) to form larger "volumes".

Regarding the setup of your storage array I think that max spread of IO load over the disks is most important for Exchange. Splitting up based on function as you suggest will, in my opinion, give a bottlekneck.

You could also look for white papers from Microsoft so find out what they suggest.
