I don't know if this helps, but thought of sharing it with you guys ..

I don't have an exactly a script but an excel sheet with some macros.. which might be helpful to you. But this needs the information to be fed and it picks them and creates the commands regarding the meta creation and mapping with the FA's. It also can get you the commands for SRDF conversion if you put the R2 device details.

Let me know if you wana have look at it, will send you the same.

Puppan,

I can help out with some customized shell scripts, but are a little dependent on environment. What are you requirements in terms?

In-terms of inputs etc.

Thanks

Probably the requirements are pretty straight forward and I will be able to able to help you out. I will create a script and send it over to you? Do you have multiple DMX attached on your SYMCLI host or only 1?

Thanks

And also what is th operation system where you have SYMCLI. Shell script will work only Unix or Linux hosts.

Yes dynamox, they do work. But I had seen some limitation with cygwin as well.

Probably the feature that I remember is the abscence of vi editor.

Have you configured a single cygwin instance to interact with various symcli hosts? I think there is a profile file that need to be changed. If so, Can you please share with me the process?

when you select what packages to download, you can select vim which will install vi in cygwin. Not sure what you mean by profiles. Once i install cygwin on a windows machine you can run any symcli commands just like you do from regular windows command prompt but you have this powerful shell to your disposal, just make sure to install awk, grep, sed and all the other goodies. If you need to schedule a bash script to run from Windows scheduler you create a batch file that contains something like this:

c:/cygwin/bin/bash --login c:/cygwin/home/dynamox/scripts/check_faults.sh

Guys,

I'm not sure if any of you have looked at SMC for mapping/masking the latest version 7.x has a wizard for DMX built into the Tasks section.  This will greatly simplify any masking/mapping changes that need to be done.  I'm a cli guy at heart but have to say this function has me converted.

If anyone has Vmware in their environment SMC can be deployed in minutes, there is a new SMC virtual appliance available on powerlink that can be deployed;  All you need to do is deploy the OVF template, map/mask 6 GK's (per symm) to the ESX and present them as RAW disk mappings to the Virtual Appliance and you're running SMC within minutes.

Might be worth a look..
