how to delete all devices in a disk group from dmx

hi i have a disk group which has approx 2000 devices and i want to destroy all the devices.

Is there any way to do it easier?

Or i have to put these into a file and then destroy it?

If i delete all the devices in a single file and delete atonce will it impact the array? what is the best way to do it?

You will need to delete them manually using symconfigure -sid xxx -cmd "delete dev : ;"  -v -nop commit

Unfortunately, with this command you cannot point to an external file so either deleting a single device or  a device range as shown above.

There will be no impact on the array however, the process is cumbersome and will take sometime as you have to specify a single dev or a dev range at one command (for 2000 devs this will take sometime) and with DMX you will have only single configuration lock at a time.

You should take into consideration also dissolving METAs (if any) before deleting the members & heads.

You should also make sure that all devs are unmapped from all FAs.

Alternatively, Due to the high number of devices to be deleted, you can open a case with EMC support and ask to get it dispatched to CE. CE can do that easily via BIN file change.

Hope it helps

i don't see a command to delete all devices in a particular disk gorup, you can specify individual devices or a range. I've deleted thousand of devices at once with no impact.
