I believe this should go to Symmetrix forum rather than here....

Well riptidemen - you've interrupted my coffee break but I've moved your thread anyway. I'll be curious to know why you posted in the coffee break social space forum?

Thanks Hrvoje for noting it.

Riptidemen .. as Dynamox said we can better help you if you show us the failing script.
Let me guess .. Are you using SymCLI 6.4 (or later) ?? I've seen big changes in the parser of symconfigure commands with S.E. 6.4 .. maybe you have to put an explicit TID in each command in the failing script.. But as I said before, it would be a lot better if we can see what gives errors.

Hi!!!!, we are using 6.3.2 Solutions Enabler Software, the script is follow

map dev 011E to dir 08A:1, lun=001;
map dev 011F to dir 08A:1, lun=002;
map dev 0434 to dir 08A:1, lun=003;
map dev 0437 to dir 08A:1, lun=004;

The OS used is Solaris 9. And we never used TID value.

Thank, and sorry about The Coffee Break... ;) this my first time here....

remove the "," after 08A:1

should be like this:

map dev 011E to dir 08A:1 lun=001;

I have tried making the script with the ",' and without including the target and it works, I think the problem is other, maybe the available lun id as Ryderp told before.

Therefore, I have a question about this luns id, when I mapp through the command line I always use the command:

symcfg -sid #### list -FA all -address -available

For checking the avaliable address, I have a doubt on this now that Ryderp puts the command referring to a specific FA and PORT. The available luns ids are for each FA and PORT? I mean, can I have the lun=001 available for each FA and port or there is ONLY ONE lun=001 in the box and this lun=001 can be used only once?

The "," fools the parser .. and forces the "symconfigure" command to search for a "TID" value that can't be found in the lines, as Dynamox said.

Hi, I have removed the "," and then executed again the script.

This is the script
map dev 011E to dir 08A:1 lun=001;
map dev 011F to dir 08A:1 lun=002;
map dev 0434 to dir 08A:1 lun=003;
map dev 0437 to dir 08A:1 lun=004;

This is the output
symconfigure -sid 0313 -f 20070813_cdmaimg2_map_0313.txt preview

Execute a symconfigure operation for symmetrix '000290100313' (y/ ) ? y

Have you had a look at the SYMAPI logs should give you more details of the failure.

Can you try Symcfg -sid 313 -dir 08a -p 1 -available -address list - sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here but just to confirm that Lun ID is available.

Cheers

Paul

Lun id's are specific to FA's so can have Lun=001 for each FA.
