RaidGroup Vs DiskGroup

Hi ,

Can we say Raidgroup in clariion is same as Diskgroup in symmetrix?.

If it is so, In Clariion we can have Physical disk which cannot be a part of Raid group. But if you want to create a LUN on Physical disk, Then we have to add that Physical disk to any RaidGroup and then only we can bind a LUN on it.

But My question is, We can have independent disks which cannot part of Raid group.


It is not the same case in Symmetrix if Raidgroup concept is equivalent to diskgroup in symmetrix and every disk should be part of Disk group in symmetrix.

So there cannot be a single disk which can be independent from the disk group in symmetrix which is not the case in clariion.
