I'm assuming that when you refer to 16GB hypers you really mean 16GB STD devs.

Right click on the array in the tree pane (on the left) you should select FBA Meta Device Configuration... then select Form...

A new dialog opens. At the top left you can select the type of dev (STD or BCV) and Meta (striped or Concatenated).

The easiest way is to check off "Auto Select" so that you won't have to pick all your Meta members. Don't bother filling in the number of Metas here, but do put in the number of Members to the right (6 if you want 96GB or 7 if you want 112GB).

You can use the filter line to narrow down the selection list based on the obvious criteria just below this.

Then you just select three devices from the left side and click add to move them to the right side. You will see that the number of Metas has automatically incremented.

Once you have set all the options and selected your Meta Heads just click "Add to Config Session List" at the bottom right and you will be taken to the config session list.

Make sure that you don't have any other pending config changes in the list (if you do you should select them and deactivate them for now). Click the Preview All button to have SMC validate your change, and assuming everything is good you can click Commit All and wait for the change to complete.

Voila! 3 x ~100GB Metas ready to map and mask :-)

Allen why don't you write a new book .. called "Creating hypers for dummies" :D

Reading your answer I can figure the mouse moving on the screen and even the menus that drops down when you right click !! :D

Great answer .. even if I don't have SMC !! :D

I managed to create the 3x100gb meta devices. And then, i mapped them two FA ports [8a:0 and 9a:0] [previewed and committed the mapping config session] but it those meta devices still under unmapped devices.

i tried to mask them by choosing the masking option by right clicking the array. after choosing the FA port and the initiator, it automatically chooses the devices , which i think aleady masked to those FA ports. But, i would like to choose only the mapped but not masked devices only. thanks

Now all those 3x100gb meta devices are mapped and moved to mapped folder.

i still need to clarify that it is okay to add the new metas to the list of already masked metas and execute the config session

Well it sounds like you are almost there, but I'm not sure I understand the last part of the question.

You have completed the mapping of the devices so you should be all set to mask them now. Is there still something that you are seeing that doesn't look right? Is this why you are concerned about the masking?

It is almost as fast as CLI. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like ECC. I've used both and I don't use ECC any more (for Symm work).

Well, so far so good. I've been through two versions now (6.0 and 6.1) and the changes seem to be logical and well thought out.

I'm happy enough with it to use it for almost everything DMX related.
