I've seen this before, asked the same questions as you did, but no cure was found. I simply ignored the "(1)" and it was fine. If I remember correct the extra "(1)" dissapeared after some time. I unfortunately don't remember whether that was because of applying a service pack of indeed simply "suddenly". Sorry.
