Cannot start Dell OpenManage Server Agent DMI

If anyone could help me it would be appreciated.  We have a server with 2000 SP4 on it that had Windows updates done this weekend.  On the reboot the Dell OpenManage Server Agent DMI service will not start.  I couldn't find anything online so I thought of just uninstalling and reinstalling Array Manager.  But doing that I get "Setup failed to launch installation engine: Class not registered."

Its Array Manager 2.7.  The server has already been rebooted again.

So, I'm not sure where to go with this one.  If anyone has some ideas it would help.  And if anyone could tell me where ArrayManager 2.7 can be downloaded from Dells site, that would be nice too.  We seem to have lost the cd.

Something else to report.  When you try starting the service a message comes up immediately saying "dcdmi32.exe - Unable to locate DLL"  and then lists all the environmental paths.  So anyone with some ideas?

I would do an uninstall of Array Manager and then install the latest version available.  Which server model are you using?

You might consider upgrading to OpenManage Storage Management.  It's got a different interface but it allows you to do the same stuff that you were doing in Array Manager.  The only caveat is that it uses more memory than Array Manager.

Here's the download:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R108443&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2450&os=WNT5&osl=en&deviceid=2331&devlib=0&typecnt=1&vercnt=19&formatcnt=2&fileid=143370

If you prefer to keep using Array Manager:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&releaseid=R37505&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2450&os=WNT5&osl=en&deviceid=745&devlib=0&typecnt=2&vercnt=19&formatcnt=2&fileid=42779

Let us know what you decided and how it worked out for you.

Yes, I don't even think Array Manager is part of Openmanage anymore, so you may as well get used to changing things via the web interface.

Ok, this got me no where.  I uninstalled Array Manager, upgraded the Bios and Firmware for the SCSI card and installed the same version of Array Manager but it has the same issue as before where the service doesn't start.  I didn't unistall OpenManage though and I wish I would have before I reinstalled.  I'm trying to go to a newer version of Array Manager and it says I need PERC 3/Si Firmware 3506 and Driver 4892.  And idea where I can get exe files for those?

Also, what is QLogic DMI Management APP?  What is that part of?

Select your server model (PowerEdge 2450) and then select your OS.  After that, look under SCSI RAID.

2.  what is QLogic DMI Management APP?  What is that part of?

It's part of either QMSJ or QLConfig.  Both of them are management applications that control QLogic Fibre Channel HBAs (Host Bus Adapters).  If you don't have a QLogic HBA, then you should just uninstall it from Add/Remove programs.

Dell didn't start creating firmware updates for the PERC3 that could run in Windows until 2..7.1.3571.  Maybe you can try that package instead.

Ok, tried doing that and it says I need to upgrade the firmware to 2.6 before I can upgrade it to 2.8.  I am currently at version 2.1.3.2951.  I have found version 2.6, but it requires to do it with floppy drives.  Is there an exe on the site I am missing somewhere so I can do it through Windows?

Thanks.  I'll try that this weekend and if it doesn't work I'll just go to 2.6 and then 2.8.

Tester, I even had trouble running 2.8 in Windows.  It kept asking if I wanted to update, I'd say yes, and it would go thru and say I'd need to reboot but it would never take so I even had to do this upgrade from the Diskettes.

Question:

How do you tell if you have a QLogic HBA?  Because if I do not, then uninstalling it is the fix of all my issues.

Ok, what is Dell OpenManage Server Agent DMI service a part of?  I upgraded array manager and its not there.  So I'm thinking its part of the Qlogic app so I really need to know how to tell if I need Qlogic and how to get back to the original version that came with the Poweredge 2450 servers.

Use the Dell SUU, it will do its own determinations and update everything that needs to be updated.
It hasn't let me down yet.

Ok, I found the SUU, popped it in, but all I see it contain is drivers.  I still don't know how to tell if I need QLogic.
