Dell OME Questions

Hi,

I am currently using version 1.0.0.30 and just started to play around wit OME.  I have a couple of questions that I cannot find the answer to.  If you could be so kind as to help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

  1. I have a couple of VMs that are listed in the "Unknown" section.  I have SNMP configured correctly and have installed Dell OMSA.
  2. I have configured the email alerts for critical, warnings, and unknown alerts.  Does this also include the Windows event logs as well?

Thank you

Hello dajonx

I have a couple of VMs that are listed in the "Unknown" section.  I have SNMP configured correctly and have installed Dell OMSA.

What OS are you using, and what version is the OS? Also, what version of OMSA do you have installed?

I have configured the email alerts for critical, warnings, and unknown alerts.  Does this also include the Windows event logs as well?

OME does not pull alerts from the windows event log. The windows event log and OME receive alerts from the services within the OS. You can choose which services you receive alerts from. You can read more on it from within the user's guide in the Alert Categories section:

Thanks

Thank you Daniel.

OME server's OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 and the VMs' OSes are Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1.  OMSA version on the VMs are 7.1.0.

I have selected all Alert Categories, but I could not locate the Windows event log section in the guide.  I would like to receive alerts from both the Windows event log as well as OMSA/OME alerts.

Thank you

What OS is hosting your VM's? Are you using Hyper-V, Xen, VMware, etc?

I have selected all Alert Categories, but I could not locate the Windows event log section in the guide.  I would like to receive alerts from both the Windows event log as well as OMSA/OME alerts.

Then it is configured to receive the alerts.

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1

I was comparing the event logs on one of my servers and it doesn't show those logs on OME.

No Events found!
