Dell Repository Manager - ISO Creation Failed
I'm trying to use the Dell Repository Manger (v1.4.104) to create a bootable ISO. My client machine is Windows 7 64bit. When I select the bundles I wish to export and click Finish, the progress window pops up and displays "Extracting Dell Deployment Media plug-in ..."
An error then pops up and says:
Bootable ISO creation failed with error:
Unknown
For more details refer to the runtime log at C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\RepositoryManager\Log
Looking at the log file provides no extra information about the error. I've even tried using procmon.exe to see if there are missing files or permissions problems and haven't found anything useful.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean

no sir, just confirming the scope of the issue, I want to make sure that when the files are resolved, that I can confirm on my systems using the same platforms that customers are using. i did reproduce the issue you are seeing for those systems :)

There is a problem with some of the files on the support site when they are imported into RM. We are working on a solution, but no eta at this time. Creating an SUU that runs under the OS will work though, but if you are running ESXi, that doesnt help.

For the 210's, right on the front of the unit where it says PowerEdge r210, it will say R210 II if its a r210 II. if it just says r210, its a (one). I'm not sure if the dmidecode will indicate which system it is, I honestly havnt looked.

Thanks for the tip, that helped. Does the problem with the support site affect my target hardware and software? Just want to make sure we're chasing the right problem.

Thanks for your reply. When that problem is resolved will there be an update posted somewhere? These forums perhaps? Just want to know where to look to keep up-to-date.

The target systems are PE R210, PE R210II, PE R610, and PE T310s, and the target OS is Linux.
As an aside, is there a way to determine which revision of the R210 I have (be it the R210 or R210II)? Is there something I can look for in the output of dmidecode or am I going to have to look on/in the chassis somewhere?

I was just informed that it pulls it from the SMBIOS, there should be a revision field (I am told)

You should have no problems creating a bootable media for the 2900 using repository manager. the 2900 files havnt been modified in some time.

Thanks for your answer,
I tried again and i get this response from your software :
"Bootable ISO creation failed with error:
Unknown
For more details refer to the runtime log at C:\Users\3811\AppData\Local\RepositoryManager\Log"
When i look in the specified log, i find this :
xmlns=" 03schemas.microsoft.com/.../Type> Name="Error">0 2 SMACLFP00036092 AdvancedExportBundleToISO.GetProgress: Error creating ISO image:
Can you help me please ?
ps : My problem is really looking like the one opening this post. simply the target is different (ie PE 2900). Perhaps ther is a problem with core files in your software ?

This is just odd. I run RM on my corp box, and it also fails. I run it on a w2k3 and w2k8 R2 box and it works. We also have a guy that it works on his system and another guy that it doesnt work on. We are trying to understand why this is happening.

Thanks for your input. Thanks to let us known when the issue will be solved. I am not able to create a deployment media (linux bundle) for my poweredge R710 servers but I can export as SUU to ISO . Deployment media are easyer to use. Is there an existing workaround in order to create/boot a CD and apply all updates ? . As I can create SUU to ISO I ll look how to use it, any advices are welcome.
