Dell Server Manager

I have an Avigilon NVR that's running server 2012 r2. The server is out of warranty so I can't get any help from Dell. The server administrator will not accept credentials. No errors, just keeps prompting. I've read the articles about Java and it has no other version and the latest is installed. That didn't change. I was abler to get in last week using the ip address instead of the machine name, but that won't even work now. I need server administrator so that Avigilon can verify that I have applied all firmware updates as well as replaced a predictive failure HDD and make sure there are no other firmware issues. After I complete those items, only then will Avigilon repair my db. Are there any other solutions?

I can now use the Dell Server Manager software. In the end, the operating system seems to be corrupt, but by re-enabling the local admin account and using The Dell Server Update Utility, I was able to get the server to a point where the engineers were able to get the machine operational. Thank you Joey C. and Charles R. for all of your help.

Hi @Grow West Rodge,

Can let me know what version is your server administrator (OMSA)?

What browser have you tried? Have you tried on another system accessing OMSA?

Does the URL address contain HTTPS://?

What if you access https://localhost:1311?

Have you tried restarting the OMSA services in Windows? Ref: https://dell.to/3XPFwMH

Can let me know what version is your server administrator (OMSA)?

8.5.0

What browser have you tried?    chrome, firefox

Have you tried on another system accessing OMSA?

I've had hit or miss luck with the other servers. We have 4.

Does the URL address contain HTTPS://?

yes. I have even tried entering the url manually with ip address and machine name, no change.I'm also not sure why I get two login prompts because if I hit cancel on the first one, it still brings up the second prompt.

What if you access https://localhost:1311?

same result.

Have you tried restarting the OMSA services in Windows? Ref: https://dell.to/3XPFwMH

I have restarted the server several times for other things, but changed nothing.

Hello Grow West Rodge,

Two prompts can be typical and you are doing correct cancel the first one and use the second one.

Have you Cleared browser cache?

Do you happen to have IE to try with?

Check that the four DSM services are running.

Try stop services in order listed and restart in order listed:

DSM SA Connection Service

DSM SA Shared Services

DSM SA Data Manager

DSM SA Event Manager

What do you get if you try one of these?

[actual Server IP]:1311  (instead of host name)

localhost:1311

127.0.0.1:1311

Try a repair install or uninstall, reboot, reinstall as administrator

Following the document that Joey C. presented, I was able to eliminate the first prompt altogether. I have cleared cache and yes, IE was the first browser I tried and it's still the same result.

Tried stoppimg services in order and started back up in order, same result.

I have tried each of those urls with no change.

I didn't get an option to repair, but I can't re-install because I don't have the installer and it's not listed under the service tag on the Dell site.

Hello Grow West Rodge,

You could use the link I provided and locate the link :

Download current version instead

It should download the  file for OMSA 8.5

OM-SrvAdmin-Dell-Web-WINX64-8.5.0-2372_A00.exe

I have that link for you here :

Thank you I was able to download, uninstall and re-install, but that did not fix the issue. I was able to get iDRAC configured. I'm wondering if a BIOS update may help. The version installed is pretty old. Can you find a link to the ism? It's not listed under the service tag.

Thank you for that. Unfortunately, that didn't help. I really need the osma to run a consistency check. Any other suggestions I could try to get logged into OSMA?

Charles, thank you for your help. I was never able to login with Firefox or IE, but I installed Chrome and that let me log in.
