Freash install logon error: Connection to server failed
I have installed NM on a system with winXP Pro installed. The install account was the domain admin account.
The server comes up green quickly (2 min) and the Logon prompt is also about 2 min before it shows up. When using the default initial logon admin/{blank}/computer name I get the error message "Connection to server failed" after about a minute.
In the command windows it the first two lines say:
ERROR: [main] (?:?) - unknown error
com.dorado.core.security.OWSecurityException: Connection to server failed
...and this is before the logon prompt is displayed. The rest "looks" ok.
Additional details requested in other threads.
Both ping of the computer name and the nslookup return the correct IP. (with and without domain)

You might try replacing the hostname with the IP address in the SERVER URL field.
If this does not make a difference, please provide the output of the server.log file.

I started that application and tries to login with the default "admin" login and then shutdown the server after it failed.
The file is over 500,000 charaters and the data all looks good enought to post. Should I email it or do you have a sction you would like me to grab?
cheers

I turned out that port 1109 is needed by Open Manage and it was previously opened by the Web Trends software. After checking the open/used ports and confirming 1109 was in use I removed the Web Trends software and rebooted. I was then able to log into the Dell Open Manage application.
Thanks to Greg and the programmers for all the help.
cheers,
Jason
