iDrac not pulling in the System Host Name.

Howdy,

On most of my severs, the iDrac is populated with the System Host Name that I assume it pulls from Windows.  However, on other servers, the System Host Name is blank.  I noticed that in OME, some systems also don't 'show the Host Name and I'm assuming that this is because the iDrac doesn't have it either.

Is there some way to get the iDrac to pull the host name from Windows or do I need to manually enter it in somewhere to get it to show up?  I don't think I entered it by hand on the ones that are working but I also don't know why only some would have it showing and the other would be blank.

Both servers in the screenshot below have OMSA installed and OMSA does show the Host Name under Main Chssis Info.

Thanks.

Hello,

What server models aren't pulling the host name, and what firmware revision are they on? Is the iSM also installed? The iSM (iDRAC Service Module) allows data flow from the OS to the iDRAC.

I also located an article that will explain how to change the server's name via IPMItool.
