iDRAC system host name not updating
I have a FX2s chassis with three FC630 blades installed in it - two running VMWare ESXi 6.7U2 and one one running Windows server 2012 R2 Standard. The Windows server is updating the hostname listed in the iDRAC - each time I change the host name in Windows it updates on the DRAC. But the ESXi hosts are not updating the iDRACs entry for the hostname. I've read some articles saying you need to enable CIM on the host, but that seems to only apply to early ESXi 6.5 and older - later 6.5 and newer, VMWare changed the behavior, so that doesn't seem to apply to 6.7U2. For 6.7, it was recommended that the iDRAC service module be installed - I have the latest version of that and OpenManage installed on the hosts, but no matter what, they won't update the hostname in the iDRACs. Does anyone have any ideas why, with the iDRAC service module installed, the hostname is still not updating?

Hello
Enabling CIM should still apply to 6.7, is this the article you found?

Yes, that's the article I found. I tried the procedure that it stated, and the first line, to enable wbem, seemed to be accepted, but the second one, to start the watchdog, indicated that the service was already running.
After a reboot, there was no change.
As it turned out, I ended up having to rebuild both of my hosts due to updating to 6.7u3 causing huge issues with pretty much everything other than basic machine functioning (vMotion, registering machines, entering/exiting Maintenance Mode, etc). After the rebuild, I installed only the iDRAC Service Module, and after a reboot, it seemed to finally update the hostname in the iDRAC. Some reading suggested that the iSM is a replacement for OpenManage, so perhaps they were conflicting.

That sounds like a lot of fun, glad you got it sorted.
