iDRAC virtual console from Terminal - cannot type after the OS boots up

I am trying to use the CLI version of virtual console through iDRAC on my R640 server. When I boot up the server on the iDRAC Terminal application (iTerm), I can see boot sequence (as shown in the screenshot below)

I can also type in options (like F2 for system setup) and that works fine.

Once the operating system boots up (in this case CentOS 8), I am unable to type anything. The screen stays blank.

Note: If I open the Virtual console from browser (html5), everything works fine.

Anyone else seen this issue? Please let me know

Some useful versions:

iDRAC 9
iDRAC Firmware Version 3.21.21.21
CentOS 8
R640
BIOS Version 1.4.9

Hi,

May I know of your intension of using virtual console via CLI? I'm unsure if the iDRAC supports the particular functionality that you're looking for. Usually if you're looking for CLI via iDRAC, usually we use RACADM. But if you're looking into SOL via SSH, I can provide the documentation https://dell.to/3B76gNi;

I do notice that the server's iDRAC and BIOS version are out of date, you should update them to the latest, iDRAC would the in the first order, then BIOS.

CentOS is not a documented supported OS for PowerEdge, it may not work as intended.

If you're looking for public opinion about your issue, we'll probably have to wait for someone with the same issue experience to address their knowledge.

Is your operating system is configured for console redirection. Based on BIOS setting you need to configure your operating system to redirect to COM1 or COM2 port. Then only iDRAC can show the console after POST. Please note you will not get complete video redirection of operating system by using this feature. As Joey C mentioned Cent OS is not a supported operating system for power edge hence we can not guarantee that it will work as it is not validated
