OMSA necessary on each server? And quick SNMP Question

Is Openmanage Server Administrator really necessary on each managed dell server if they will be monitored through the use of IT Assistant and are configured to push alerts to the omia?

Also when applying the SNMP settings. You can apply them on the DRAC, the OS and the BMC (I think)? Do you have to enter them in each location or can you enter the SNMP settings in one place and it will control all available locations?

Thanks

a) If you really have some strong reason for not using Server Administrator, you may consider IPMI based management. See the IT Assistant help/user guide for more details (which systems support it, etc).

Its not so much that I have a reason not to per say, but its a couple hundred megabytes of software and files I would rather not have on my servers JUST for monitoring the system and its components thats all. IPMI seems to have a number of limitations. You would think they would be able to accomplish the same type of monitoring without the web interface and all the other jazz having to be installed locally on the server. You should be able to interface to these components through a small footprint agent and run the conole on a workstation as opposed to installing the server administrator on each server.
