Problem discovering Win XP clients

I am using IT Assistant 6.5. I am having problems with discovery on some Win XP clients e.g. an Optiplex GX280 machine.

This client was originally running fine with Win 2000 and OMCI 6.1

Win XP (SP2) has recently been placed on this machine (clean install not an upgrade).

The machine is now being seen as an "unknown" machine in IT Assistant.

I have tried installing OMCI 6.1 and OMCI 7.0. The install seemed to run succesfully on both occasions but in both instances the machine is being seen as an unkonwn client.

I have disabled the Win XP firewall and checked the SNMP settings.

IT Assistant is able to "read" the SNMP settings from the client machine - settings seem to be displayed correctly in the Details tab of IT assistant, but the summary page just shows the IP address of the machine and nothing else.

Please advise on how to proceed. I do not want to upgrade to IT Assistant 7 at this time.

Couple of things you can tried.

1. Update BIOS on desktop

2. Uninstall the current version of OMCI and install the latest version of OMCI. (should be 7.1.382)

3. Uninstall SP2?:smileywink:

Already tried the first two points - BIOS is latest version - A05

Tried latest (and earlier versions) of OMCI.

Reluctant to unistall SP2
