Server temperature statistics?
We are having trouble with a cooling unit in a new server room, so I am wondering if there is a way to periodically log the temperature measurements that our servers are making. I mean: I can see the current temperature in the iDrac interface, but not historical temperatures. Something like 2 measurments per hour would be good.
We are talking about 11G servers, primarily R310s and R510s. They all have iDrac Enterprise cards. We are running OpenManage Essentials.
If what I am talking about is not a built-in feature of either the servers themselves or of OME, is there some other management software that might do what I need?
Thanks!

You can monitor the server's temperature with DELL OpenManage Power Center: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/power-cooling/w/wiki/3534.dell-openmanage-power-center.aspx . You can set temperature thresholds and send snmp traps to OpenManage Essentials...
Also.. if you have installed OpenManage Server Administrator, you can check the server's temperature from command line "omreport chassis temps" (from server). You can make a script and than schedule it to check the temps..
