This system is not recognized as a Dell System

I need some assistance.  I have two Dell 750's which came preinstalled with Windows Server 2003.  When I click on the Dell Open Manage Install icon (on the desktop), the install screen comes up, it asks me to accept the user agreement, I click next, and then the following message pops up:

"This system is not recognized as a Dell System. Managed system software components can only be installed on Dell systems."

Has anyone ever seen this before?  I tried rebooting.  I've tried unzipping another Dell Open Manage Install file which I downloaded from the site and I received the same error.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to resolve?

Thanks.

I have this on a brand new PE2850.. I check the readme_ins.txt and 2850 is listed.  Still same error message that you have listed in your initial post.  I'm going to check the bios version later today to see if that could be the matter.  This is quite a confusing issue.

Without knowing what version is on those CDs or what is preinstalled, it's hard to know what the solution would be.  I recommend downloading OpenManage Server Administrator 4.3 and see if you discover the same issue.  The software is very useful once you get it installed.

I'm sorry for not listing my version... 4.3 is the version I have.  But thank you for your response, hopefully your advice will help the original poster.

I have also a Dell 750
which is not recognized as a DELL SERVER. I removed the system management software and tried to reinstall it ...but ... the Systems Management CD doesn't recognize the system as a Dell server ... it wants to install the Management Station softwares ... I don't get the change to install the Server Administrator.
I removed all the Systems management software with the OMclean tool but ... no way to reinstall the System Management software (Server Administrator).
... Help ... Does anybody know any solution for this?
Tx !

If your cdrom version is 4.3 then you need to install using the cdrom that contains Server Administrator.  The programs are on different discs starting in 4.3.

Completely separate from 4.3, Windows Server 2003 does not allow you to install OpenManage software if SP1 is installed.  SP1 was released  days after OpenManage 4.3 so you will be unable to use the software until 4.4 is released to correct the issue.  Check support.dell.com around the end of May.

We just came to the same conclusion here.. Win2k3 SP1 is what is holding us up.  Will wait for 4.4... thanks for the help.

Any ETA on the next version of OpenManage?  Even a hotfix?

I just installed a ERA/O card (DRAC) on a PowerEdge 1750, went to reinstall OpenManage 4.2 to get it setup (the version on the server already) and got the "This system is not recognized as a Dell system" message.

Then tried 4.3 and it stated it would not install on Windows Server 2003 with SP1.
