Unable to install OM 4.4 Windows 2000
Windows 2000 Server SP4 SR1v2
Dell PE 2550
I uninstalled OM 3.3.0 (through Add/remove programs CP), and rebooted. When attempting to install OM 4.4 (downloaded file OMI-SrvAdmin-Dell-WIN-440-32-339.exe from Dell), the install reports the following:
SYSTEMSMANAGEMENT: The command c:\program files\dell\sysmgt\dataeng\bin\dcecfg32.exe command=addareg prefix=de product=OMDataEngine enable=TRUE returned unrecognized return code -1066598273
Prereq checker reports "the current version of Server Administrator (some or all components) is already installed on this system..." although I have yet to successfully finish the OM installation process since removing 3.3.0.
OMClean reports:
OMClean is only supported on Server Administrator or management Station versions prior to 4.3.0. OMClean cannot be used to remove the version on this system.
I have examined the registry key hklm\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion]Installer\InProgress to make sure there are no values.
Any advice on how to get OM 4.4 installed is GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you for your time!
David

One thing I did not mention in the original post, after rebooting the server (post failed OM install), the server blue screened upon boot - even in safe mode. Running an emergency repair fixed things, except the NTFS permissions all over the filesystem were reset. This server is a Web server and ASP failed to work after this. Following the directions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/271071/EN-US/
repaired the filesystem permissions and got ASP working again.
Anyhow, I followed the steps in the sticky at the top of this thread for troubleshooting OM installs - this did not work for me.
I opened a support ticket with Dell last night and was given assistance in disabling the following services:
mr2kserv
om common services
secure portserver
systems management eventmanager
and
systems data manager
Once these were disabled (and turned off of course, though in my case they were not on), the omclean utility actually succeeded.
I will attempt to install OM 4.4 again after business hours today and post my results.
