No Multi-user profile on Venue 8???

I just received my Venue 8 tablet.  It comes with Android 4.2.2 but does not have the multi-user option.  I've seen other tablets allow this.  Anyone know how I can get this feature to work?

My update didn't happen for several days after the delivery and registration of my tablet.

Thanks for the info EZEECHAIR,  Ive been leaving my tablet on with wi fi on just to see if it will catch an update while I am out.  Then check and recheck in settings.  Maybe there will be an update when I get home.

Is the update working well for you?  Any complaints?

I have been running with 4.3 for several weeks now and have no complaints. I have no need of the "multi-user"  option as my wife has her own Venue 8. Speaking of the wife, last night after driving her home from a get together she attended we realized that she didn't have her tablet with her.  She called the host of the event to see if she found the tablet. Friend stated she would get back to us in the a. m.  When she called back at 8:30 the next morning she said she hadn't found it as asked us to check the car.  Well sure enough as I rounded the front of the car towards the passenger side there it was face up just in front of her door.  Fortunately for us it had 'the snowed over night and the driveway was clear of snow. Temperature over night was around -8 C. Other than the frost on the device it appeared to have suffered no damage from the drop. I have it climatizing in a zip-lock bag with dry rice and will turn it on in a couple of hrs.  I'll post the finally at that time.

Well, very good news!  I hit the power button and it came on right away, which means it was in "stand-by" mode.  The tablet took the impact of the fall occurred on the corner just left of the 3.5 mm ear phone jack. The finish just appears to be peppered a little where it hit the asphalt of the drive way.  I estimate from about 3' high as she was getting out of a Hyundia Tucson.  It must have fallen out of her purse as she was unaware of the loss.  So it sat exposed to the elements on a clear driveway( as clean as it can be after shoveling salt slush off it) in Ottawa,  Canada from 11 pm to approximately 9 am, in stand-by mode,  in -8 C.  after suffering a fall of 3' and after climatising to the in door temp for approx 2 hrs continues to function as if it had been inside all along.  Wow!

I forgot to mention that the Venue 8 was not in a folio case or pouch of any kind when dropped and left outside to the extremes.

Great news Ezeechair. They must have a pretty tough build quality.  Still no update for me as of this AM.  Very perplexing.  Can't complain too much though the tablet is running perfectly as is.  I don't care about multi user either.  My wife and I each have our own tablets.  I have read that as of 4.3 there is the ability to make the bottom navigation bar transparent.  I'd like to be able to do that.  Do you know if that is enabled on the dell?

You know I didn't pay attention to what 4.2.2 looked like as I was too caught up in just exploring the tablet and adding the apps that I have on my other tabs.

I can tell you this though, the bar is transparent by default and you can easily swap out the default apps for those you prefer.  I have toyed with the idea of using a launcher but I decided to group apps on the home page and use widgets on the other pages to occupy the pages.

I think I answered my own question.  I think that feature becomes available in 4.4

Sorry I meant the black navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. The one with the home, back and recent apps buttons.  I've read that it can be made transparent in 4.3.

Still no update by the way.  It would nice if Dell would post it for those of us that aren't getting the ota.  I know there are links at xda to update manually.  But I'd feel better getting the most current file directly from Dell.

Good morning Dell support folks!  Just letting you I still don't show any available update on my venue 8.  Do you have any news on this issue?  I have about one week left in my return window.

Is it possible that the 1.42_131114 people did not get a system update or hotfix along the way and for some reason Dell has removed that update from the OTA servers?  Update servers usually look for the build date/time and version numbers to push and install much the same way an update file will verify before installing. Normally it is something like " if  XXXXXXX < XXXXXXX "  But if the Dell servers are looking for a specific rather than a variable piece of information, that would explain why one versions seems to be being skipped on the push. It would also explain why the manual method found on another forum won't work on 1.42_131114 as well.

That seems like the likely senario to me Rabid.  A few posts up a dell rep asked for people to post their software version.  Everybody with an issue has that same version.  I am assuming that since she asked that question they are aware or becoming aware of the situation.  It would be nice to know if a fix is in the pipeline.

I love the tablet and it is working great so I don't want to exchange it as others have had touchscreen issues etc.  Mine works flawlessly.  But I would like the newer android version that everybody else has or at least know what is going on on dells end.  I can be patient if need be as long as I know something is happening.
