Dell EMC Unity Async Port

When using an asynchronous replication port, is it mandatory to use the lowest number? For example, in I/O module 0 Ethernet port 0-4, should 0 always be asynchronous? Can't be 1Port,2Port,3Port ?  Only 0Port??
