Question About Dell EMC Unity 300 Embedded CNA Port

Dear Everyone,

I have a question about Dell EMC Unity 300 Embedded CNA Port. If I buy the FC transceiver for 04 x Embedded CNA Port, can I connect directly to the FC HBA on Server or I need to use a FC Switch ?

I have already read some document. It just mention that if I buy the FC I/O Module with 04 x FC port, I can connect directly to the FC HBA.

Please help me to answer my question.

Hi Nghia,

Are you essentially asking if you can setup FC hosts without an FC switch? So direct attach?

If so, then yes you can, but it's not best practice.

Some hosts may even require a special request (RPQ) in order to be supported.
