Hi,

You will need to contact phone support to get a license.

Contact the Dell EMC Support Line by calling 800-782-4362, option 4, option 4, (at any time) and they will assist you and/or create an SR on your behalf.

Information needed in the Service Request:

Software Part Numbers – 456-110-674    UnityVSA CE 4TB=IC

Quantity/Capacity – Qty 1

Hi Josh,

From the looks of other community posts, it appears that support is not fully aware of the issue and is requiring a valid service tag / serial and refers back to the forums for assistance.

Any idea as to why this service continues to fail and if self-service will be an option again? This is a powerful appliance to gain familiarity to the Unity UI and functions and the community edition is great.

Regards

I unfortunately do not have any information on where they are in the process of fixing the process. If you called in and a case was created if you private message me the case number I can look into it.

A commitment of appreciation is all together for the method, it turned out just immeasurable for me moreover!

All,

This was an update given to me by our Dell Sales team. This is not promising news from Dell but I thought I would pass this along.

Due to limited Dell IT resources and priorities, the self-service website will not be fixed anytime soon.

In the meantime, here is the current workaround for customers like yourself that would like to try VSA community edition and get a license.

The workaround for getting the UnityVSA Community Edition trial license is to open a Service Request with License Operations.

Licensing Service Request for UVSA CE Trial License:

  • Customer (internal or external) opens a Licensing Service Request. There are 3 ways to open a Service Request:
  1. By visiting https://onlinesupport.emc.com/ and using the Live Chat. The Chat Team will assist the requester to create a Ticket.
  2. A Service Request can be opened on the Support Site by selecting "Create a Service Request" and providing all the relevant information required to address the request.
  3. Contact the Dell EMC Support Line by calling 800-782-4362, option 4, option 4, (at any time) and they will assist you and/or create an SR on your behalf.
  • Information needed in the Service Request:
  1. Software Part Numbers – 456-110-674    UnityVSA CE 4TB=IC
  2. Quantity/Capacity – Qty 1
  3. Machine information: UUID (shows up after the install)
  4. Site Info
  5. If this is a Dark Site, please inform Licensing of this
  6. Reason for trial license = UVSA CE Trial License Website is down

Hello AjithMsM,

When you called into support did you provide them with the following information so that they could create a case and provide you with a license key?

The workaround for getting the UnityVSA Community Edition trial license is to open a Service Request with License Operations.

Licensing Service Request for UVSA CE Trial License:

Customer (internal or external) opens a Licensing Service Request.

1.           There are 3 ways to open a Service Request:

  • By visiting http://dell.to/3uVQLWB and using the Live Chat. The Chat Team will assist the requester to create a Ticket.
  • A Service Request can be opened on the Support Site by selecting "Create a Service Request" and providing all the relevant information required to address the request.
  • Contact the Dell EMC Support Line by calling 800-782-4362, option 4, option 4, (at any time) and they will assist you and/or create an SR on your behalf.

2.           Information needed in the Service Request:

  • Software Part Numbers – 456-110-674    UnityVSA CE 4TB=IC
  • Quantity/Capacity – Qty 1

3.           Machine information: UUID

4.           Site Info

5.           If this is a Dark Site, please inform Licensing of this

6.           Reason for trial license = UVSA CE Trial License Website is down
