Introduction

Log retention/archive period information for three types of Unity logs (system log, alert log and service information)


Detailed Information

·         system log

When the storage system log system accumulates two million log entries, it purges the oldest 500K entries (as determined by log record time) to return to 1.5 million log entries.

·         alert log

When a new alert comes in, those alerts older than seven days will be cleared.

·         service information

Keeps the latest five service information logs.

FYI:

service information logs are stored in /EMC/backend/service directory. You can check the usage of directory using “df –h” command.

e.g.)

spa:~> df -h

Filesystem        Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on

/dev/mirrora5      15G  1.8G  12G  14% /EMC/backend/service
