Yes
I would suggest to start with the Unity White papers to get familiar with the Unity archtitecture.
In terms of sizing for NDMP the approach I recommend is to size to actual usage vs. theoretical bandwidth.
I.e. measure how much NDMP peformance is used with the current VNX/Celerra systems - then work with your local Speed Guru on sizing for Unity.

Typically a VNX5600 DM is using AUX-Port 0 for FC Tape connectivity.
This means all (8) NDMP backup streams of the DM are using (sharing) this single FC 8 Gb/s port for tape connectivity.
Please check your hardware setup, I do not think your 4 DMs are using 4 x 8 = 32 FC 8Gb/s ports

Yes you're right, each DM only use 1 port @ 8 Gb/s, but there are 3 x DM to be replaced by only 1 in the UNITY.
So how can do do to have the same performance ?

It is 3 to 2. Both Unity SPs are active
Maybe LACP could also improve performance

Hi Peter,
You said that both SPs are active on NAS, but is it possible to share One File system on both SPs or do we have to split one FS per SP ?
No, one FS is only on one SP, no filesystem sharing between the SPs.
Think of each SP as of one active DM on your VNX.
Of course you need to distribute the data of your three now active DM to two Unity SPs.

Thanks Peter,
And what about redundancy ? If we have 2 SPs that each support their own file systems and one of the SPs falls (eg SPA), will the other SP (SPB) support SPA file systems in addition to his own file systems? Brgs
Many Thanks Rainer
I will do that
