Unity OE 5.5.3 not available?

On the Dell EMC Unity Support Page i only see the Unity OE 5.5.2 (29 Oct 2025) Upgrade File, but not the Unity OE 5.5.3 to patch against CVE-2026-21418. I'm logged in and I see the new Unisphere CLI versions from January 29th, but not the Upgrade File 5.5.3. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hello alex345345,

If you have an active warranty on your unity system then you should be able to access this link to get the upgrade file. https://dl.dell.com/downloads/Y7MMF_Dell-Unity-OE-(Operating-Environment)-5.5.3.0.5.046-Upgrade-file.gpg

Hello,

thank you for providing the download link.

Unfortunately, the link is not accessible from our side either, even though our Unity system has an active warranty. The download does not start and access appears to be blocked.

Could you please verify the link or provide an alternative way to obtain the upgrade file?

We have an active warranty until 2029. The download worked without any problems with previous versions. I opened a ticket because I suspected the device might not be correctly registered in our account. But perhaps it's a general problem for customers in Europe/Germany?

I've a valid support contract till 2027 and I can also not see/download the 5.5.3 upgrade. I'm also based in Europe/Germany.

Hello Christian Pape,

If you can’t access the link I listed above then it is best to open a support case so that we can get you the download.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the current situation regarding the Unity OE 5.5.3.0.5.046 upgrade package.

The download link provided by support is not reachable (“can’t reach this page”), and the same file is also not accessible through the official support portal or product download section. This effectively prevents us from obtaining a required operating environment update for our production storage systems.

From an enterprise infrastructure perspective, this is unacceptable.

Security and maintenance updates for critical storage platforms must be reliably and immediately available. If customers are forced to open support cases just to obtain a basic software package, this creates unnecessary delays, operational risk, and potential security exposure. Blocking or failing downloads of official firmware/OS updates is not in line with enterprise-grade support expectations.

We manage production systems and must be able to:

  • download updates directly and reliably,

  • access them without special/manual intervention,

  • and patch systems in a timely manner.

Please provide:

  1. A working and permanent download link, or

  2. Direct access to the file via the official support portal, and

  3. Clarification why the standard download mechanism is currently broken.

This issue needs to be resolved urgently, as it directly impacts our ability to maintain system security and stability.

Hello Inge_NBG,

I am checking to see why the update is not available on the site but I currently haven’t gotten a reply yet.

I can only see the 5.5.3.0.5.046 Recovery image. I'm not sure that this is the same thing as an upgrade image, as I can see for the 5.5.2.0.5.014 release.

@DELL-Sam L I opened a ticket and received a reply stating that 5.5.3 has not yet been released, which is obviously not true. This morning I can see a 5.5.3 OE "Recovery image", without any information what exactly a recovery image is compared to the usual "Upgrade file“. I tried to install the 5.5.3 recovery image on a test device and I saw that this will install 5.5.2.0.5.014 and not 5.5.3. Has the update been withdrawn, or what exactly is going on? I never had any issues regarding DELL software upgrades before, but the communication regarding this update is really awful.

Since today, I can also see the recovery image (Dell Unity OE (Operating Environment) 5.5.3.0.5.046 Recovery image), which wasn't visible yesterday. I'm not sure if this is a problem only in Europe/Germany, but judging from the posts here, it could very well be.

currently, as of 2/4/26, the content is in progress and restricted to Dell EMC employees and SE partners.

We also can't download the image, also since today the recovery image 5.5.3 isn't available anymore.

The internet is full of warnings about these CVEs, recommending that 5.5.3 be installed as soon as possible, but it looks like DELL does not want us to install this update.

Lenovo storage is more cost-effective than Dell Unity while offering the same specifications.

We had planned an upgrade and I had downloaded the image earlier in the week but it was not the one with the *.gpg extension.  I just logged back in and now none of the 5.5.3 are available.  Our security team wants us to apply the patch this weekend, but we can't download the update.  Also Unisphere does say the latest version is 5.5.3, but the link in Unisphere doesn't work either.
