R900's poor performance with vmware
We have 6 r900's ... with vmware we are getting just horrendously bad performance. Creating a VM on one of the r900's gives a machine that is roughly a 50% loss from a stand alone machine.
Whats interesting ... we bought a 710 and added it to the cluster... no such problem... we even moved a vm from and r900 and got a 50% time reduction for a compile (we use these to compile our product) ... so this VM on the 710 equals a stand alone machine... and it degrades as expected... we run more vm's on the 710... and they start to slow down... as exepected.
Why on earth would an r900 have a 50% performance penalty right off the bat?? That's just weird... and its ALL 6 of them.
We have tried messing with the bios settings (there is a hardware prefetch and adjacent something we turned off)
That did nothing.
Help!!!
