Blackout rule Question

We have resource pools in each of out  vM cluster  called Decom.  We put retired  or powered off machine in thi sresource pool.  I am trying to build a search qury to  blackout all alrms from vms that are contained in any resourcePool named Decom.

I am still trying to figuring out how top query  and use vFoglight better so I am no expert at this .

I tried  where VMWResourcePool.name like 'Decom' from  scope of VMW Virtual Machine but the query says that no property exists.

How should I go about creating this blackout?

No one ever ran into this? ...Sorry if i didn't phrase the question right  but I just don't know how to customize vFoglight or proper vfoglight lingo.

I have had Vfoglight for 2 years nows and it still does nothing. We are constantly having performance issue and failed agents. So many bugs in this product. PSO has been procured two times and basically just tried to sell us on other cartridges instead of providing scripts and making this product meanigful for us. I am very dissappointed I actually spent two years on this already  really hoping I get a budget this year to by something else.  I am throughly frustrated with this product and Quest.

The topology query

#!VMWResourcePool where name = 'Retired'#

worked for me, so I would expect that

#!VMWResourcePool:name like 'Decom%'#

would work for you. The part about "scope of VMW Virtual Machine" couldn't help and shouldn't be necessary if you specify "Include Child Objects: Black out alarms for the children of the selected objects as well".

You should also be able to select this Resource Pool in the Create Blackout Wizards.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience with vFoglight has been frustrating so far and hope that will change. It looks like most of your questions in the Community have been answered, so hopefully that part of the experience has been positive. vFoglight is a very powerful product, but it takes some time to get up to speed with customizations that require scripting or querying.

I hope you'll keep posting in the Community if you have unmet needs.
