Can someone help with deciphering these error messages?
I get about 3 of these errors about every 3 hours. I do not see any heavy activty during these times. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Error: [Fatal] ESX Host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Total Command Latency... Virtual machines on this ESX Host may be experiencing performance problems.

VMW ESX Server Total Latency rule fires when the total command latency (that is, the time taken during the
collection interval to process a SCSI command issued by the guest OS to the virtual machine or the sum of kernelLatency and deviceLatency, based on data from the seven days prior to yesterday) of an ESX Server physical disk exceeds the normal operating range.
The Rule evaluates the condition based upon registry variable VMW:diskTotalLatency.fatal for which the OOTB value is 40.

Kernel: The time spent between the guest OS and the device.
Device: The time spent on the physical device. In VMware's words, "from the HBA to the platter."
The total latency that the rule assesses is the combined read and write latencies for both kernel and device.
In order to assess where the problem is taking place you should go to the vmExplorer dashboard for the ESX Host that triggered the rule. On this dashboard there is a tab for Storage information. In the table of physical disks you will need to look at the row for the disk that caused the rule to fire and then look at the values for Kernel and Device latency.

If you are looking for additional help then my suggestion would be to create a support case rather than going back and forth here.

Do you have something in a public location I can view the results of this thread? Can the alarm on vfoglight be filtered to be alert at a different threshold?
