Kiosk mode

Hi,
Is it possible to white list certain IP addresses to bypass the login page? The reason why I’m asking is because we have several unmanaged surveillance stations/monitors and we would like to present a vFog dashboard on these.

Hi Christoffer,
To set permissions for a page:
In the Action Panel (right hand side), under the general tab:
Properties | Edit Basic Properties
Assign the user to allowed and relevant roles.
Allowed roles give the user the ability to see that dashboard
Relevant roles give the user the ability to see that dashboard's link on the "navigation panel" (left side).
That should allow you to assign the NoLoginUser permission to view a dashboard.
You will still have to get the link to that dashboard by noting the URL or using:
Properties | Link to this page
The WCF guide for Foglight has additional information about creating dashboards, etc.
Here is a link to that information. This is for the latest version of Foglight, but the information should apply to vFoglight as well. Submit a support case if you need something specific to your version.

Hi Christoffer:
The No-Password login option allows you to login as a special user, without providing a password.
This feature is not on by default and will only be activated if the user is created.
To Enable this:
- Create a User called "NoLoginUser"
- Enter the user the password "abcdefg1"
- Assign the User the "Operator" Role so they can use the Console.
- Create a "Restricted Views" Group & Role.
- Add the "NoLoginUser" to that group
- Select your desired dashboard/view and from the Action Pane | General tab | Properties | Edit Basic Properties,
Grant the user a Role/Group that gives access to the desired Views.
- Also while on the Action Pane | General tab | Properties, select Link to this Page to obtain the Reference Id for
your direct URL access identifier.
Access your view with the following URL:
http://:/console/foglight_ext?viewId=
NOTE: Sometimes one must use the IP address of the Foglight server rather than hostname.
I hope this gets you started.
Good luck.

Christoffer,
I forgot to address your question about IP:
This does not restrict the login by IP, but the URL does obscure the login somewhat. That being said, neither restricting by IP nor the obscurity of the URL needed to access the FMS are really security measures. Both are easy to defeat.
Thanks,

Hi Dave,
Thanks a lot for your reply - That is exactly what I was looking for!
In relation to your answer you might help me out with a issue with the dashboard I have created to the NoLoginUser – The graph that I have added to the dashboard is showing up correct, but the spinning animations that is showing the CPU utilization on a cluster is replaced with the following error:
You are not authorized to access view "Widget: Spinner w/ Popup (Units, Threshold Indicator)"
Do you know which permissions I need to assign to the user?

Hi Dave,
Thanks once again for your feedback!
I have set allowed/relevant roles on the dashboard and the noLoginUser is able to see most of the dashboard eg. graphs and text, it is only the spinning wheels (you know this animated circle that changes colors depending on the load) that gives me the error:
You are not authorized to access view "Widget: Spinner w/ Popup (Units, Threshold Indicator)"
And i can't figure out why, do you have an idea?

Hi Christoffer
The NoLoginUser is intended to display views with no user interaction, so a view such as "Alarm List with Filter - Alarm List" will fail to display all data because this view requires user input/interaction.
As a workaround, grant access (Allowed Roles) to the NoLogin Role on the view. See following as an example:
a. To give access to the restricted view on the Alarms page navigate to Configuration->Definitions. Select the Alarms module and select the view "Alarm List with Filter - Alarm List" (there are many with similar names, make sure you select the correct one).
b. Edit the view Alarm List with Filter - Alarm List
c. Under Allowed Roles select the NoLoginRole created above. Make sure to select all other Roles that you want to continue to have access to this View.
d. Save the view, logout as Foglight user and retry the URL. The NoLogin user should now be able to see this tab on the Alarms view.
e. Repeat this procedure for other Views as needed.
Hope that works for you.
