Updating vmWare tools in vOps through vCenter
I'm still new to this community and hopefully I'll be catching up here soon, however I'm not sure of the process for updating the vmtools on the vOps apliance. I know once I spunt it up and configured the IP's etc, the vCenter saw that the tools were out of date. Tonight is our patch management night and we'd like to get vOps up to speed as far as the tools go. What is the process to getting this done? Do I just push it out from vCenter or are there steps to perform on the vOps server as well.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi David,
You can update VMWare Tools on the appliance the same way you would any OpenSUSE Linux virtual machine. This can be done manually from the console if vCenter can't push it out on its own.
Hope this helps!

Brad, I totaly get pushing from vCenter, however I am truly a dinosaur when it comes to Linux. Without the GUI, I'm kind of lost. I mean, I did get in there and set up the IP's and such, but there was documentation for that. Even though they didn't put the executable ./ to launch a .sh file in the docuentation, I at least figured it out. However, I'm trying to document what to do in case I'm not here to figure it out and someone else on the team needs get er done. With that said, is there something in the command line to get this to fire off in case the push fales?

Brad, it turned out to be a moot point as I was able to get vCenter to push the update of the tools last night. So nothing more to worry about on that front moving forward. Thanks again for the help!
