vKernel update, files missing
At some point I (without thinking, I assumed premigration.zip had everything I needed) deleted the pre-migration directory from the appliance, and it's giving me problems updating to version 6 - specifically when I run the premigration script, I see:
Warning: Could not find file /usr/local/vkernel/toos/pre-migration/rest-api-schemas.jar
Is there a way to get just the files populating pre-migration so I can get them back on the appliance, or will I have to load a new virtual appliance?

Hi Brian,
I'm guessing you don't have a snapshot of the VM from before deleting those files? I'm also guessing this is for an offline update, yes?
If so, you might be out of luck. Your best bet is to check the entirety of the update package (including opening vkernel.zip and all associated files you downloaded for the update) and seeing if the needed files are contained there.
Outside of that, you will have no choice but to deploy a new appliance and migrate over your historical data a la this: http://communities.quest.com/thread/18270?tstart=0

Hi Brad –
I have installed the new v 6.0 OVF and it is communicating with our 4 vCenter servers. However, I still cannot get AD to work. Here is what I have entered:
When I hit “test” I get no feedback as a test pass or fail – a popup briefly appears with validating settings and that’s it. I hit OK and then attempt to log in as myself who is a VMWare Admins group member and I get the message
I then run the SQL command to disable AD and can log in as vkernel again.

Hi Brian,
Quick sanity check:
Is the login "bludden" in the "VMWare Admins" domain group in AD?
If so, then I think you'll need to open a case with support to diagnose this deeper.

Yes it is – at one point it was working…I will see what I can do with getting a support call started. Thanks!
