I know I accidentally installed some sypware (I believe they were plugins) on my comp while I was surfing the web. I'm getting random popups with blank pages. The comp also seems a bit slow also and it takes longer to boot up now. Here is a silent runners log:

Hey Steve, thanks for the help again. I already ran spybot and adaware with updated definitions they found nothing. I'm currently running a scan with counterspy as I type. Here is the latest hijackthis log:

After uninstalling any (or all) of the above, let's see if we have anything in "
Scheduled Tasks":
Download, unzip and run
ScheduledTasks.bat (courtesy of
ddeerrff), and when notepad comes up, post the contents back to this thread.
Run
HiJackThis then:

3. Click "
Open Process manager"

Let's take a shot in the dark.....let's do a system restore back 2 days ago before this happened.
Before doing that set a new restore point for now, just in case we need it.
It just may work in this case.
After you do that do the below and let me know how it goes?

Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box
From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'
Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'
The service is now stopped and disabled.
2. We will now delete the service:
1. Open HJT
2. Click on Config>>Misc Tools>>Delete an NT Service
3. Type
rpcapd in the space provided and click OK
4. The program will ask you to REBOOT --- Accept
5. REBOOT into SAFE MODE
6. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following file (if it still is present):
C:\WINDOWS\program files\\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe
7. REBOOT back into Normal Mode
8. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Long time no see....I can't help you as long as you are running that cracked version of Kazaa.
You have to delete that program from you system and repost a fresh log if you need help.

What problem are you haveing as the log is OK. By the way, deleting the entry from the log doesn't count. :) :) :)

1. select " Action | Delete on reboot".
2. copy/paste the following file name(s), one at a time, in the " Paste Path of File to Delete" field:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE11\MSOXMLMF.DLL
3. click " Kill File".
4. when prompted to " Reboot Now" select " Yes
John, that should kill that off. See if that makes any difference and get back to me.

We got to find the path to those .exe files. If I have the path, I can can kill them. If I don't know where they are I have a problem.
The info on Google is limited on thoese.
Post a fresh log with everything loading ( enable all in msconfig) and let's see if they show up.

You have LOP infection that we are going to clean up. You might have gotten it from those files, if that's the case this should correct that.

Be sure to look this solution over before you begin. There are a some item(s) I'm not familar with. If you recognze any, then just omit them from this fix.
Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:
Viewpoint Manager
The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.
Next, we need to remove(uninstall) the 'lop' infection by going to here, then downloading and running the uninstaller(s) that relate to the application(s) your wanting to remove. The following selections are available: " Start page", " Search engine", " Accessories Toolbar".
After uninstalling any (or all) of the above, let's see if we have anything in " Scheduled Tasks":
Download, unzip and run ScheduledTasks.bat (courtesy of ddeerrff), and when notepad comes up, post the contents back to this thread.
Run HiJackThis then:
1. Click " Config..."
2. Click " Misc Tools"
3. Click " Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.
Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".
Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".
Reboot and post back a new log, and let me know how everything goes.

Let's take a shot in the dark.....let's do a system restore back 2 days ago before this happened.
Before doing that set a new restore point for now, just in case we need it.
It just may work in this case.
After you do that do the below and let me know how it goes?

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.
Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)
Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".
Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:
folders...
C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".
Reboot and post back a new log, and let me know how everything goes.

Download KillBox, unzip it to your desktop, then run it. Now:
1. select " Action | Delete on reboot".
2. copy/paste the following file name(s), one at a time, in the " Paste Path of File to Delete" field:
C:\WINDOWS\wt\backup\1.6.1.002\wcmdmgrl.exe
3. click " Kill File".
4. when prompted to " Reboot Now" select " No".
We must stop, disable and delete an added service (023) (Various contributors)
1. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'
Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK
Click the Extended tab.
Scroll down until you find the service.
Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)
Click once on the service to highlight it.
Click Stop
Right-Click on the service.
Click on 'Properties'
Select the 'General' tab
Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box
From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'
Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'
The service is now stopped and disabled.
2. We will now delete the service:
1. Open HJT
2. Click on Config>>Misc Tools>>Delete an NT Service
3. Type rpcapd in the space provided and click OK
4. The program will ask you to REBOOT --- Accept
5. REBOOT into SAFE MODE
6. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following file (if it still is present):
C:\WINDOWS\program files\\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe
7. REBOOT back into Normal Mode
8. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.
