I have a 3 year old Dimension 4300 that came with Norton anti virus. I've kept it updated over the years to Norton Internet Security 2005. Last week it started to act up, so I went to their tech support (which took awhile) and found a couple files to download, well windows could not open the files. I tried tech support again and couldn't get on their site. Now Norton isn't working at all. I decided to take Norton off the computer, so went to add-remove programs and tried to remove it. It wouldn't uninstall. So I used Norton System works to uninstall it. I also uninstalled Norton System works. I purchased McAfee virus scan and installed it. Whenever I try to download something off the internet to my desktop I get the message "Norton Antivirus 2005 does not support the repair feature- please uninstall and reinstall." I even get this message when I try to open an email attachment. I looked on the files on the hard drive and still found Norton and Symantec files. How do I get rid of these files?
Bob, When I go to the web site you gave and try and download the files to my desktop I still get the message ' Norton does not support the repair feature.'
