this is a new version of the trojan.vundo and the removal tool from Symantec will not work as it was for an older vundo.
Symantec is working on a new tool but I have not seen any mention on their site yet. I know they are aware of this new problem and they say they are working on a fix. They say 48 hrs to put out a fix - but it has been more than that now.
They have not even sent out a virus def yet for this. NAV did sense a problem but cannot fix it and the notice will not go away.
There are fixes avaiable on this and the Hyjack section as well as at Tech Support Guy. They are a little complicated but useful.
Please note that trojan.vundo seems to put different files on different computers - so each fix has a different file to find - although the process is the same.
I am hoping that Symantec will offer a more simple fix shortly.
Thanks for the update. I am not familiar with Hyjack & the Tech Support Guy. I am willing to try even if it's a little complicated. I'm not a pro but can usually muddle my way thru with instructions.
