Today is "Microsoft Tuesday" --- the SECOND Tuesday of the month --- on which Microsoft is expected to release its monthly cycle of Windows security updates. Based on previous history, they should become available at 1 P.M. [USA - Eastern DAYIGHT SAVING Time]
Unless you really want the Adobe Reader Update Service running in the background, disable it in services.mscagain after this update.
Every time you update Reader, it runs the Adobe Reader Refresh Manager, and that installs (or enables) Adobe Reader Update Service so it launches automatically at every boot and runs in the background. Taken together, that means Reader gets updated in the background when you're not looking...
These Adobe shenanigans are all logged in the Win 10 Reliability Monitor on the date they happen.
I got Win 10 v1909 update KB4552931, cumulative update for .net, and KB4556799, cumulative update for Win 10, plus the May'2020 update for MSRT v5.82 today.
When the PC rebooted to the desktop after installing the updates, I clicked Settings on the Start menu and went to the Windows Update screen with the intention of checking the update history.
The main Windows Update screen was blank, aside from saying Windows Update at the top. I closed and reopened that same screen but still blank. On my 3rd attempt, the Start menu was blank.
Rebooted and things seem to have recovered. The update history screen says "successful" for all of today's updates.
Windows Defender SmartScreen got enabled (I had it turned off) after all of today's updates and issues and kept annoying me until I turned it off again...
